Yeye – Why Nabi Deserves More Time

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane has pleaded for Nasreddine Nabi to be given more time at helm of the club because one season is just not enough to gauge his work.

Nabi arrived in Naturena at the beginning of the season, with fans having high expectations because of his previous successes elsewhere.

However, he has endured an indifferent campaign, suffering inconsistent results in the league where they look in danger of a deja vu of finishing outside the top half in two straight seasons.

The good news for the Tunisian coach and his charges is that they are in the Nedbank Cup final, their first domestic cup final in six years which ‘Yeye’ believes can salvage their season.

“Look, it has been an inconsistent season for the team, and I don’t think you can judge a coach by their first season when they’d just come in and got new players,” Letsholonyane told iDiski Times writer Lethabo Kganyago in edition 203 of the newspaper.

“He’s new in the country with a whole lot of technical team members who are not used to the culture, to the players in South Africa, things like that. So, for me, a season is not enough.

“I’m saying let’s rather give him more time, obviously the second pre-season with the players, and I’m sure that the team will support him more with players that he wants in the second season.

“Maybe from then on, people can start saying whatever they want to say, but for now, let’s rather give the coach and his technical team time, and we’ll take it from there.”
