Mamelodi Sundowns made it nine consecutive league wins in a row to go back to the top of the Betway Premiership after a 4-1 win over Chippa United at Loftus Versfeld on Good Friday.
In a fixture under the lights in a packed Loftus arena, the dubbed ‘points machine’ continued their run, having showed their clear intentions from the starting whistle, with the likes of Nuno Santos and Marcelo Allende having shots from range, with the latter finding the net.
After 22 minutes, he received the ball from Santos, and hit one into the bottom left corner of Dumisani Msibi’s net, sparking wild celebrations from the home supporters.
Iqraam Rayners netted his 11th of ther season shortly after to double their advantage as Sundowns look set to take control of the game but Chippa managed to pull one back with Sinoxolo Kwayiba scoring just before the break.
However, Miguel Cardoso’s proverbial bomb squad, with Teboho Mokoena, Brayan Leon, Divine Lunga, Khuliso Mudau and Themba Zwane stemmed any sort of tide Chippa attempted.
Tashreeq Matthews then found the net in the 83rd minute and Bryan Leon added a fourth in stoppage time from an acute angle to end the match at 4-1 – as Masandawana moved two points ahead of Orlando Pirates in the title race.
