Mamelodi Sundowns went to the top of the Betway Premiership after continuing their dominance over Sekhukhune United.
Sundowns came into the game with the intention of returning to winning ways after the Carling Knockout Cup final loss and dropping points in the CAF Champions League group stages opener, while Sekhukhune lost their midweek clash against TS Galaxy.
The defending league champions showed signs of wanting the win more than Babina Noko in the first half, as they kept United under massive pressure.
Their consistent pressure paid off in the 22nd minute when Tresor Yamba scored an own goal after a cross by Aubrey Modiba to make it 1-0 to Sundowns.
Downs went into the break with a narrow 1-0 lead, leaving the ball in United’s court to come out in the second half for that equalizer.
Sundowns came out guns blazing in the second half, and they were quickly rewarded after Iqraam Rayners was brought down by Sekhukhune United goalkeeper Badra Ali Sangare inside the box, referee Eugene Mdluli pointed to the penalty spot. Arthur Sales stepped up and scored his first goal for the club to double the lead.
Masandawana remained in control of the match and even scored a third goal when Rayners calmly slotted home in the 89th minute to put the cherry on top.
