Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile has returned to first-team training, head coach Rulani Mokwena has confirmed.
The Namibia hitman underwent surgery for a sports hernia which kept him out of the reckoning for several weeks before the FIFA World Cup break.
While he was pictured on the training pitch last month, the two-time PSL Footballer of the Season has now officially started full training with the rest of his teammates.
“Peter is now one week on the pitch, on the green grass with the team, and the protocol first is a return to training then return for availability for selection,” Mokwena said ahead of their league clash against Orlando Pirates on Friday.
“So he’s only gone past the first stage of rehabilitation if you want to call it that, so we will see, everything always depends on the individual and how the biomechanics, physiological reactions are to medical treatments.
“So we will still see, but he’s not played any friendly matches yet, but is now taking part in full training, yes.”
The 29-year-old has scored six goals and registered two assists in 11 games in the 2022/23 season.
