Sundowns Run Riot Vs Galaxy

Mamelodi Sundowns regained their 12-point lead at the top following a convincing 4-1 victory over TS Galaxy, which marked the third consecutive loss for The Rockets.

Sundowns initiated the goal-scoring within the first minute following Lucas Ribeiro’s cross to Iqraam Rayners, who subsequently laid it off to Peter Shalulile, and he capitalized on the opportunity.

Masandawana maintained their momentum, swiftly augmenting their lead to 2-0 after Marcelo Allende’s cross and Peter Shalulile’s dummy enabled Rayners to control and finish the play, doubling the lead merely six minutes into the match.

TS Galaxy promptly responded after Sphiwe Mahlangu secured possession in midfield and initiated a pass to Victor Letsoalo, who reciprocated the pass to Mahlangu, and he successfully evaded Jody February to reduce the deficit to 2-1 within nine minutes.

However, TS Galaxy’s aspirations of regaining momentum were thwarted when Victor Letsoalo received a red card for an egregious tackle on Bathusi Aubaas in the 28th minute, thereby reducing the team to 10 players.

Following 37 minutes of play, Sundowns augmented their lead after Shalulile’s shot was blocked by Marks Munyai, and Jayden Adams capitalized on the rebound to establish a 3-1 lead.

Sundowns entered the half-time break with a comfortable 3-1 advantage.

Immediately following the commencement of the second half, Sundowns extended their lead to 4-1, with Rayners scoring his second goal and increasing his league goal tally to seven.

Sundowns continued to dictate the tempo of the game, reaching the 90th minute with a comfortable 4-1 lead, and Galaxy displayed no indications of mounting a comeback.

The result saw Sundowns get revenge for the defeat in the reverse fixture, 12 points ahead of Pirates who have three games in hand.
