Swallows Release Statement After Cancelling PSL Games

Moroka Swallows Chief Executive Officer Sipho Xulu has explained what’s transpired as they cancelled their remaining DStv Premiership games for 2023.

Swallows were scheduled to face Mamelodi Sundowns this evening at Loftus Versfeld before hosting Golden Arrows at Dobsonville on Saturday afternoon.

Both games have been cancelled as confirmed by the Premier Soccer League (PSL) after players refused to train and camp before stating they won’t honour fixtures.

iDiski Times understands the message was delivered to the club’s management on Tuesday after failure to pay their salaries for another month – after a nearly two-month delay previously which the PSL grant resulted in their previous 10-day strike.

“On behalf of Moroka Swallows FC, an apology is extended to all affected parties due to the cancellation of the following games against Mamelodi Sundowns FC and Goldern Arrows FC.

“Due to an unresolved dispute between players and management; that has resulted in management having to request cancellation of the two remaining games of this year from the PSL, to allow it time to correct the situation.

“Management would like to assure everyone within and outside the club that the process of finding one another will soon be found. It has been resolved that no further details will be officially given until an update from the club is issued.”
