SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo has responded to Hugo Broos’ remarks about striker Thamsanqa Gabuza.
The Bafana Bafana coach had claimed during his squad announcement for the friendlies against Guinea and France that Gabuza would’ve have been a good striker for the national team five years ago.
The 34-year-old has scored six times for Matsatsansa this campaign, which is already more than during his best campaign for Orlando Pirates.
But Tembo insisted that the forward is adding a lot more than just goals to his team.
“Gabuza brings in a different dimension in our team,” Tembo said, when asked by iDiski Times about Broos’ remarks.
“At the moment we are a little bit thin in attack, he is the only out-and-out striker that we have at the moment because of the injury of Bradley Grobler til the end of the season.
“So he leads our attack at the moment because the rest are youngsters. He has done well for us, to be fair on him.
“He works very hard and allows his teammates to join him in attack because he can hold the ball sometimes and we are happy with his contribution.”
