Tinkler On CAF Target After Chiefs Draw

Sekhukhune United head coach Eric Tinkler admits he’s not entirely satisfied having come away with just a point against Kaizer Chiefs as that messes with his targets to finish in the top three and qualify for the CAF inter-club competition.

Tinkler’s charges could not protect a lead in their penultimate league game of the season against Amakhosi in their backyard having to settle for a draw in a game that had big implications on their log standings.

The result along with that of Stellenbosch FC’s 2-1 victory over SuperSport United meant the Limpopo side dropped to fourth place with 46 points, this making the final round even more important. With coach having been brought in to qualify for a CAF competition, he thinks it’s too early to talk about this affecting his future should Babina Noko not qualify.

“I don’t think that’s the case, I think it’s still too early for that,” Tinkler answered iDiski Times.

“I’m not entirely happy because obviously, we were hoping today to collect the three points to try and ensure that we keep that third spot in the league.

“With Stellies obviously winning they go a point above us now. Now it makes that last game even more important, and unfortunately now we rely on others to help us.”

Sekhukhune’s last match of the campaign is away at Golden Arrows who are looking to sneak into the top 8 next Saturday, while Stellies face Tinkler’s former side Cape Town City in the Western Cape Derby.
