Cape Town City head coach Eric Tinkler has admitted that star midfielder Thabo Nodada’s continuous absence from the team is down to 18-year-old teenage sensation Gabriel Amato.
Amato was promoted to the first team at the beginning of the current campaign and has put in a great shift in the first team with eight appearances in all competitions, scoring a single goal.

The Citizens reserve product made another start as Tinkler’s charges fell to a 1-0 defeat at Sekhukhune United which now sees them in 13th spot on the Betway Premiership standings.
Amato’s fine form has thus halted Nodada’s progress as he continues to be a regular feature on the sidelines with Tinkler saying that Amato has been superb which in turn has been difficult for Nodada to break into the squad.
“He’s fighting for a position that is not easy at the moment,” Tinkler told the media.

“There’s a youngster called Gabriel Amato, so that’s my answer.
“But he [Nodada] was excellent tonight,” Tinkler said.
