Truter Questions Playing Pirates Twice Already

Richards Bay head coach Brandon Truter questioned playing twice against Orlando Pirates in the league before the second round starts.

Bay suffered a second consecutive 1-0 loss against Pirates in the league within a space of two months. The KwaZulu-Natal-based side lost to the Buccaneers in September at King Zwelithini Stadium as Kabelo Dlamini scored deep in the second half to seal the three points for the Mayfair outfit.

The loss at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday evening was Bay’s fourth league loss in seven matches played. The Natal Rich Boyz have had a tough start to the season after playing against most teams that finished in the top four last season.

They lost to Sekhukhune United 2-0 away from home, played a goalless draw against Stellenbosch FC, and lost back-to-back to Pirates. They will face Mamelodi Sundowns in December.

Truter stated that the remaining fixtures are a ‘bit easy’. Their next league encounter is against struggling Kaizer Chiefs on the 27th of November, while they face Magesi FC this coming weekend in the Carling Knockout Cup semifinal.

“We finished with Pirates this season. I don’t know why this league game is played now,” Truter told the media.

“We still have a calendar year ahead of it.

“We’ve played the big teams in the league, and we would’ve liked to pick up points on the road we were disappointed.

“But in front of us, it looked a bit easy, let’s put it that way because we played against the teams around us except maybe Sundowns that’s late in December.

“But we have played second-placed Pirates, third-placed Stellenbosch, fourth-placed Sekhukhune, we’ve played Cape Town City, we’ve played Pirates twice already.”
