Former Orlando Pirates skipper Benedict Vilakazi has backtracked on his stance that the title race is over and now insists that his former team still have an outside chance of chasing down Mamelodi Sundowns.
After Pirates suffered a shock 2-0 defeat away to Marumo Gallants and Kaizer Chiefs narrowly lost 1-0 to Sundowns, ‘Tso’ made a call that the Betway Premiership title was wrapped up.
Speaking to Nkululeko Nkewu on iDiski TV, the former Bafana Bafana international revealed that the Buccaneers were given a glimmer of hope after Sundowns were held to a 1-1 draw by Golden Arrows.
“I think they start to realize that having games [in hand], you don’t have points. You have to work for those points,” Tso said.
“There’s still hope but it’s up to Pirates because you cannot be losing games.
