Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Asanele Velebayi has welcomed the arrival of Faiz Abrahams at the club, saying he knows the latter is going to deliver.
Abrahams, 21, completed his season-long loan move from Stellenbosch to Naturena earlier this month and is yet to make his Chiefs debut after three rounds of league action and the first round of the MTN8.
Chiefs coach Fernando da Cruz has also pled for patience with the new signing, saying the technical team are making a plan to get him fit as he came without having done any pre-season.
Meanwhile, Velebayi and Abrahams are both products of Cape Town Spurs and were teammates in the 2023/24 season.
Velebayi has welcomed Abrahams’ arrival, saying it also means raising his own competition levels.
“With Faiz, because I’ve known him also having him here is good because it helps you like give your best because [when] you know there’s competition,” said Velebayi.
“You can’t be comfortable in anything. So having Faiz is a positive thing because I know the magic that he has, and I know he’s going to help us a lot. I know he’s going to deliver.
“Obviously, I spoke to him. I told him the pressure is going to be high, but just try to control what you can, which is staying calm and give the best for the team.”
