Vilakazi Hits Back At Chiefs Critics

Kaizer Chiefs and Amajita talent Mfundo Vilakazi has brushed off the recent criticism against him.

Vilakazi, 18, came under scrutiny in recent weeks for what was deemed as showboating during their fixture against Young Africans in which the lost 4-0 in the Toyota Cup.

And he was subject of abuse online despite being one of the club’s most promising talents emerging within their first team at present.

New Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi was impressed enough during their pre-season in Turkey to hand him a start against Yanga, further emphasising their belief in his potential.

“I saw on social media people were criticising me, I [don’t] think it affected me, but I deleted all my social media [apps] because people were texting me on Instagram saying [via DM] I don’t deserve to play for Kaizer Chiefs,” he told iDiski Times.

“So I thought I should just delete my Instagram for two weeks because people will always talk (criticising). The league will resume in a couple of weeks’ time, and I will score [goals]

“The very same people who were criticising me will say Mfundo deserves to play for Barcelona or something, but because we lost against Yanga they are saying I don’t deserve to play for Kaizer Chiefs, people will always talk – whether you are doing good or bad.”

Vilakazi will undoubtedly return to Amakhosi in high spirits after scoring goals in both friendly games against Lesotho U20 over the past week.
