Zwane Admits It’s Been Tough…

Mamelodi Sundowns captain Themba Zwane says it’s been tough on the sidelines but his recovery from injury is coming on positively.

Zwane suffered a partial tear of his Achilles tendon while on international duty with Bafana Bafana which has limited him to only 229 minutes of football for Sundowns this season.

He’s been spotted in recent weeks back in training, in a period where there have been doubts about whether he will be able to return back to full fitness for the remainder of the season.

“In terms of injury, I’m coming along alright, and I’m starting to run on the side now [at training] at least I don’t feel pain,” Zwane said at the FIFA Club World Cup trophy unveiling at Chloorkop.

“The Achilles is tense now at the moment but I’m coming alright, so far so good. You know, to be honest, it’s been difficult, it’s been difficult, especially when you hear people saying it’s done for him now.

“But obviously I have a family that supports me, teammates who always check up on me. Overall… but I know myself, I am strong, I’ll come back strong and I’ll push myself and try to get back into the team.”

The 35-year-old has scored 80 goals and 60 assists in 411 games for Masandawana.
