AmaZulu FC head coach Arthur Zwane admits that they are now living with regrets having not secured fourth spot as they now rely on other teams to lose.
After beating their arch-rivals Golden Arrows on Sunday, Usuthu kept their chances of finishing in the top eight, meanwhile top four is more unlikely now after the three points they won against Royal AM was removed due to the latter being booted out of the league.
Zwane’s side find themselves in sixth place with 33 points with two games remaining, five points behind Stellenbosch FC who have five games in hand. Their faith to finish in the top four is no longer in their hands. Should Stellies win one game, that will automatically confirm that Usuthu will finish outside the top four.
‘Mangethe’ confirmed that they live in regret as they’ve been creating chances and dominating games but failing to win them as their faith is no longer in their hands.
“We made our life difficult to be quite honest, I believe by now we should have secured position four. I am looking at games where we gave away goals cheaply,” Zwane told the media, as per Ayanda Nyuswa.
“For example, take the game today, how many turnovers we’ve had today, openly just decision making. It could’ve been a game that goes either way, it could’ve been Arrows scoring first, then we chasing the game.”
“You go to Chippa Utd, you go to Stellenbosch, Stellenbosch before they scored, we had two chances from dead ball situations, we missed the target, and then from the dead ball situation again, from our own mistake, second half we had two, the second one was an open net, the other one we broke the line nicely.

“So, we had clear cut chances than Stellenbosch in that game and we did not take them. It’s been always a worrying factor for us, but my worry is consistence we blowing hot and cold, if we are to take these kinds of performances going forward in terms of character sometimes because sometimes you create your own luck.
“When you dig deep, when you push hard you are bound to be rewarded but we are now live with regrets, so we have two games left, we relying now to other people to lose.
“If maybe we were not dogged these three points we would’ve been on 36 and then I would give you the answer and say if we win next week Friday and then we have Pirates, so it’s not gonna be easy, it’s all up to us again.
“Remember we played more games than any other team and that alone puts us under pressure.”
