Mamelodi Sundowns forward Themba Zwane says for him there is no debate as to who is better between him and Teko Modise, as he’s learnt so much from his “master”.
Zwane, 33, is arguably the greatest player of the current generation of DStv Premiership players but there has been an ongoing debate as to whether he has surpassed the level of former Masandawana and Orlando Pirates star Modise.
Zwane, though, has insisted for him this debate doesn’t exist because Modise was already at the highest level when he just started out and showed him the ropes.
“It makes me happy but I will still say that I’m not better than him, because I was learning from him. He’s like my master,” he told Andile Ncube on Sport Nights Amplified.
“I was busy learning from him and he was always pushing me, so what I feel is I can’t be better than him.”
Zwane also mentioned Modise’s most impressive characteristics as a player, saying hardly anyone one came close to his level.
“I learned so much from Teko. Teko is the most relaxed player, he always what’s happening around him. Top player,” he added.
Zwane himself has made 342 appearances for Sundowns, scoring 72 goals and assisting 52. He has lifted 11 trophies since moving to Chloorkop, including six Premier Soccer Leagues titles and the CAF Champions League.
