AmaZulu head coach Arthur Zwane has set his sights on a top-three finish in the 2026/27 Betway Premiership, with Usuthu targeting a return to CAF inter-club football after their impressive start to the season.
Zwane’s side have made a positive start to the campaign, with the coach highlighting the growing self-belief within the squad as they look to maintain their momentum and establish themselves among the league’s leading teams.
“It’s always good to be in an environment where you enjoy yourself and the players as well. It develops self-belief that things can go our way. So far, so good, we just need to continue where we left off in terms of our last game,” Zwane said.
The former Kaizer Chiefs coach stressed the importance of maintaining consistency, particularly with a congested fixture schedule which has been a talking-point for all the coaches in the top-flight this season.
“We need to keep grinding our results. These games, when they come, they come thick and fast, so we need to be ready for each and every game we come across. So far, we want to keep it that way,” he added.
‘We Want To Compete In Africa Next Season’
While Zwane was reluctant to make definitive predictions about where AmaZulu will finish, he made it clear that the club’s ambitions extend beyond simply maintaining their early-season form.
“I would be lying if I told you where we can finish. We have goals like any other team, but the league is a marathon. You never know what’s going to happen as the season progresses, but we fancy our chances. We want to compete in Africa next season,” he said.
A top-three finish would represent a significant step forward for Usuthu, who are eager to return to continental competition and give the current group an opportunity to test themselves against some of Africa’s elite.
“As a group, we’re growing in stature, so that will be a very good experience and a boost for this group of players. If you remember my first season with coach Kanu, we finished sixth and the following season, fourth, so we’re always aiming high. We need to improve from last season this season.”
