Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Samkelo Zwane has revealed that coach Nasreddine Nabi told him to play higher before the side’s 1-0 win over 10 men Sekhukhune United on Sunday.
The 23-year-old was in the thick of things in attack in the encounter, creating some chances especially in the first half.
Though nothing came from those chances, the player was rewarded late in the game as he set up substitute Mfundo Vilakazi’s sole goal in the 87th minute.
The player who had come under criticism from some parts of the club’s fan base was the Man of the Match and he said that he just played to instruction in Durban.
“Yeah I mean, for today’s game we changed our shape a little bit in the progression,” said Zwane on SuperSport TV.

“The coach told me that I’m going to play a bit higher, a bit box-to-box, but like higher he wants me to play high. So, I just took the instructions and results came.”
Zwane added that it felt good to be back in the starting 11, the first time since October last year, saying his efforts in training have paid off.
“It feels good to be back in the starting line-up,” added Zwane.
“You know, I’ve been working hard off the field and staying after training doing some finishing and extra work.
“I just want to thank my teammates, thank the coach, thank the whole KC family, they showed a lot of support in me, and I thank God I was given a chance today.”
