Bayern Munich have appointed appointed former Burnley coach Vincent Kompany as their new head coach.
The former Manchester City follows Thomas Tuchel, who oversaw Bayern’s first trophyless campaign in 12 years.
Kompany, 38, meanwhile, got relegated with Burnley after leading them to promotion the previous season. Many South Africans will know Kompany for bringing Bafana Bafana striker Lyle Foster to Burnley.
At Bayern, Kompany penned a three-year deal until June 2027 and was unveiled on Wednesday.
Burnley were Kompany’s second senior side after he was in charge of RSC Anderlecht between August 2020 and June 2022, working with another Bafana star in Percy Tay.
Kompany knows the Bundesliga from his playing days after playing for Hamburger SV between 2006 and 2008 before his move to Man City, where he won four Premier League titles and 12 overall.
