Al Ahly have sent an official letter to the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Dr. Patrice Motsepe demanding a neutral venue for the Champions League final.

The Red Devils are on the verge of a third consecutive final and potential third consecutive title after beating ES Setif 4-0 in Cairo on Saturday evening.

And with Wydad holding a 3-1 lead over Petro de Luanda, which they achieved in Angola, they are favourites to also qualify for the once-off final against what’s likely to be Ahly.

However, as things stand, Morocco are touted to host the spectacle for the second consecutive season, something which Pitso Mosimane said shouldn’t be the case for fairness in the competition.

Ahly have now confirmed they have requested a neutral venue that ‘will provide equal chances for the four teams’, while stating that home advantage for one team contradicts fair play standards.

Dakar has been touted as the other potential venue while South Africa were also said to have made a bid for the final of Africa’s elite club competition.
