Al Ahly have overtaken Orlando Pirates in Group C of the CAF Champions League after coming from behind to beat Stade d’Abidjan 3-1.
The reigning champions were made work hard by the home side, who scored the opener after 26 minutes via Saint-Jean Kore.
They carried their slender lead into the break, however, Al Ahly turned the game around in the second interval thanks to a hat-trick by Emam Ashour.
The midfielder netted in the 53rd, 73rd and 95th minute to secure three points for the Egyptian giants.
The win saw Al Ahly move to the top of Group C with 10 points from five games, two ahead of Pirates, who have a game in hand.
The Buccaneers could secure qualification for the knockout stages of the competition should they beat CR Belouizdad at Orlando Stadium on Sunday, while a draw would keep things open for the last round of fixtures when Al AHly host the Sea Robbers and Belouizdad welcome Stade d’Abidjan.
