Al Ahly midfielder Amr El-Solia has suggested the Kaizer Chiefs CAF Champions League final was the easiest of his career.
He follows on from Magdy Asfha, who scored the winning goal in the final against Zamalek SC a season prior, to share the sentiment as he admitted the red card of Happy Mashiane made things easier.
Meanwhile El-Solia, who has been one of the most consistent performers for the Red Devils and Egypt national team in recent years, has lauded the group for winning four African Champions League titles in five seasons.
“The current generation of players is the best in Al-Ahly’s history, and facing Kaizer Chiefs in the 2021 Champions League final is the easiest in my career,” he said on MBC2 as per Koora before explaining what drove them to success.
After being embarrassed 5-0 by Mamelodi Sundowns in the competition in 2019, led by head coach Pitso Mosimane in Tshwane, the group pledged to restore the pride of the club after that historic exit.
And it was ironically Mosimane who became the coach to secure their first Champions League crown in seven years.
“We pledged to change the image and return to the titles after our defeat against Sundowns in the 2019 edition, and we succeeded in winning the Egyptian League title after that, and then we set out to win these four African Champions League titles.”
