Al Ahly have continued their lavish spending spree ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup as Egypt international winger Trézéguet returns to his boyhood club after a decade abroad.
The 30-year-old who has been capped 82 times by the senior national team is a product of the club’s academy system scoring eight goals with nine assists in 95 appearances before moving to Belgium with Anderlecht back in 2016.

Three years later, after establishing himself in Europe and impressing at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, he earned a move to the Premier League with Aston Villa in a reported €10-million transfer where he scored nine goals with five assists in 64 games.
However, he fell out of favour in England and went on to move to Turkey with Trabzonspor, whom Al Ahly have lured him back to Egypt from after his loan stint in Qatar.
He becomes their latest attacking signing after Zamalek star Ahmed Sayed Zizo, Achraf Bencharki, Tunisia international midfielder Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane (Ferencvaros) and promising goalkeeper, Mohamed Seha (El Mokawloon) – taking their spending to over $3-million (R50-million) thus far.
This after several club icons have departed upon the expiry of their contracts including Amr El-Solia, Ali Maaloul, Rami Rabia, Akram Tawfik, while squad players Karim Nedved and Hamza Alaa have been released.
Newly appointed head coach Jose Riveiro will be tasked to put together a competitive performance in the United States of America with their new-look squad in the coming weeks.
