Cardoso – We Have It In Our Hands

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso says they still have qualification to the CAF Champions League last 16 in their own hands ahead of their clash against AS Maniema Union.

The two sides meet at the Stade des Martyrs in Kinshasa this afternoon with the Group B evenly poised after four rounds of fixtures.

ASFAR, who take on Botola Pro rivals Raja Athletic Club lead the standings, with eight points, Sundowns in second with five, Raja with four and the Congolese giants with three points, having drawn three of their four games.

“We are aware of the conditions of the group, it’s a group that will probably be decided on the last game, for sure,” Cardoso said.

“But the way we do things [against Maniema] can make us arrive in different conditions in the last game, so it’s all in our hands, our hearts, minds and feet to make things in the right way so that we arrive in the last game in the best conditions possible.

“To fight for the best position and qualification in the group. Knowing what happens in our game and the other game, maybe put different questions in the last game so let’s think about us, what we have to do, what we can do – the preparation we did, the quality we have.

“Let’s bring that to the pitch, be super focused on the details because it’s what can decide these kinds of games, these teams have quality  and make it from our side, it’s what we want and for sure what we’re going to do.”

The two sides lock horns in the capital of DR Congo this afternoon at 15h00.
