Esperance Coach Confident Ahead Of Sundowns CAFCL Semi-Final

Esperance Sportive de Tunis head coach Miguel Cardoso says his team will be difficult to stop if they can reach their best level against Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League semi-final.

The Tunisian giants will host Masandawana in the first leg at 21:00 (SAST) on Saturday after dropping two points in the Ligue 1 against Monastir.

ES Tunis, though, remain on track to win their record-extending 33rd league title, leading the championship round with 13 points, followed by Monastir with just seven.

However, they will now switch their focus back to the CAF Champions League after eliminating ASEC Mimosas on penalties in the previous round.

“We will correct our mistakes [from Monastir] as part of our preparation for this match,” he told the club’s media.

“The technical staff is already hard at work and we will be ready on D-Day.

“I’m confident that we have the resources to achieve great things. We need to stay focussed, stay together and give our best in every game.

“If we do that we will be difficult to stop.”

Esperance qualified as runners-up from Group C and only lost one game in the CAFCL this season. They have kept a clean sheet in nine out of their 10 games in the competition this season, only conceding in a 3-1 defeat Al Hilal Omdurman.
