Khanye Predicts CAFCL Semis

Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye has predicted a win for Mamelodi Sundowns and a draw for Orlando Pirates in their respective CAF Champions League first leg semi-final ties against Al Ahly and Pyramids on Saturday.

Sundowns are looking to get over the line in the tournament for the first time in three seasons, having stumbled at the semis in the previous two terms.

They are coming from a defeat in the domestic cup last week and want redemption to finally add their second star but will have to overcome the defending champions.

Khanye says because of Miguel Cardoso’s selection in attack the Brazilians can get a narrow lead in the 1st leg at Loftus stadium.

“I think Sundowns they are going to win 1-0,” said Khanye on iDiski TV.

“They have got this tendency to play [Iqraam] Rayners and [Peter] Shalulile, which doesn’t work for me. Also [Lucas] Ribeiro, the guy is a bit tired because he does a lot for Sundowns, attacking and fetching the balls too deep.

“He is a threat for Sundowns because he’s very dynamic and skilful. He’s the one that takes responsibility in attack, he keeps the ball, he takes shots, he scores goals and he’s assisting he does everything. So I see a 1-0 score-line.”

As far as the game at FNB Stadium at 18:00 in the evening is concerned the former South African junior international is expecting a boring game with both sides not attacking.

“I see a draw in this one and I’ll be straight forward,” added Khanye.

“When I watch these guys [Pyramids], they are not one of the best teams technically but they’ve got experienced players who understand what is needed in the game.

“I don’t think they will attack. For me it’s going to be a boring tactical game with long balls, I see a 0-0 score line or even 1-1, basically a draw.”
