Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye heaped praise on Lucas Ribeiro as a stand-out attacking player in Mamelodi Sundowns’ 1-0 win over ES Tunis in the CAF Champions League quarter-final 1st leg match.
Ribeiro stood to be counted in a game Sundowns dominated heavily though frustrated by their sitting opponents. The Brazilian was also involved in the sole goal scored by Peter Shalulile in Tshwane on Tuesday as his cross found Jayden Adams who then set-up the Namibian to break the deadlock in the second half.

Khanye feels that the 26-year-old grinded more than his teammates at the front who looked lost and made the game boring.
“Ribeiro was there and it’s only Ribeiro that I’ll give credit because the guy tried so hard,” said Khanye on iDiski TV.
“I was a little scared that he might get injured. Ribeiro was taking responsibility while everyone up front, Shalulile and also [Thapelo] Morena looked lost.
“They lacked urgency, they had no mobility and there was no movement of the ball. They weren’t coming out, there was no inter-change of position, nothing. It was only Ribeiro.
“I think he had one shot at target, Shalulile and Morena were never a threat and that made the game boring.
“Yes, Sundowns dominated in the midfield with so many passes you can even check their ball possession. They dominated the game because of their midfielders and defenders.”
