Mokwena: I Don’t Have The Luxury Of Excuses

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena mentioned that coaches always have excuses but he doesn’t have that luxury with Masandawana.

Sundown’s depth will be needed in the coming months, having been involved in three competitions: CAF Champions, DStv Premiership, and Nedbank Cup.

Despite all these competitions, Mokwena believes he doesn’t have any excuses because of the team he has and the way they’ve been working hard.

Mokwena stated that any player at the club is high level and they always tell them to work harder so that when an opportunity is presented to them it can be easy for them and they must be ready at any given time.

“What type of team you’ll see, you will see the Sundowns we know, teams news I don’t speak a lot about players that are not available. Sometimes we as coaches like excuses but I don’t have the luxury of excuses, we’ve got a squad that’s got a lot of very, very good players, have got enough depth,” Mokwena said in the pre-match press conference.

“Even though we miss; for example, I said to Peter Ndlovu yesterday that he must train today because the front line is looking very difficult with injuries to a few players and some late fitness tests for others.

“At the moment we going in this when we have to trust like we always have and allow everybody and the message have always been very consistent to say people train well put yourself in a position when we need you are available and Bongani Zungu can testify to that.

“We give opportunities not because we are forced to give opportunities but because we have the luxury of having to use everybody when we can use everybody and allow everybody when the opportunities permit and let’s see what happens [against Coton Sport].”

Masandawana will be aiming to make it two wins from two when they face the Cameroon giants at the Roumdé Adjia Stadium on Friday afternoon (18h00).
