Al Ahly secured a 2-1 first-leg victory over Raja Athletic Club in their CAF Champions League quarter-final at the Al Ahly Stadium in Cairo on Saturday evening.

In another late kickoff due to the Holy Month of Ramadan, Ahly showed no signs of their recent slump with a powerful start to the game, with Percy Tau central to their attacking display.
Well aware of what’s expected in Casablanca in the second leg, head coach Pitso Mosimane clearly set his side on the offensive and they took the lead in the 12th minute through a penalty from Amr El-Solia and ten minutes later they were already two ahead.
Hussein El-Shahat who was given a rare start this season was teed up by Tau to send the home supporters in raptures as things threatened to go the way of the African champions.
But Raja fought back bravely with waves of attacks and found a consolation on the brink of halftime when Mohamed Zrida beat Mohamed El Shenaway to set up a more nervy second half.
But that proved to be the only goals of the first leg of the last-eight tie, despite the visitors playing with ten men for over half an hour of the second stanza when Maraoune Hadhoudi received a straight red – which rules him out of the return leg in Morocco next week.
Despite the recent criticism in local media, 🇿🇦 @TheRealPitso maintains the support of the 🇪🇬 @AlAhly faithful.
He takes a 2-1 lead to Casablanca for the return leg against @RCAofficiel in their quarter-final tie.
