Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly SC announced their starting line-ups for the CAF Champions League first semi-final clash at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
The journey for CAFCL glory continues for Sundowns as they face their old foes, Al Ahly. Sundowns are coming to this game with their tail between their legs after suffering a Nedbank Cup defeat against Kaizer Chiefs a week ago.
Masandawana find themselves in the CAFCL semis after beating last season’s finalists Esperance 1-0 on aggregate, while Al Ahly are on the verge of defending their title after eliminating Florent Ibenge’s Al Hilal SC 2-0 on aggregate in the quarter-final, beating them home and away.
The Red Devils don’t have a good history when it comes to traveling to South Africa, as they have never won on Mzansi soil.
Sundowns are unbeaten against Al Ahly in seven games, including their 5-2 win at home in the group stages in 2023. The Egyptian giants recently faced Pirates in this year’s group stages, playing out a goalless draw.
