Tau’s Ahly Collect Import Away Win

Percy Tau’s Al Ahly collected an important 1-0 away victory at Simba SC in Tanzania in the first leg of their CAF Champions League quarter-final on Friday.

Al Ahly opened the scoring in the fourth minute already when Ahmed Nabil Koka pushed it over the line after a mishit clearance by the Simba defence.

Many thought it would one-way traffic from this moment on, but Simba came better and better into the game.

Overall, Simba were control in large parts of the first half and almost equalised in the 38 minute but a shot from sadio Kanoute from a tight angle was just pushed around the post by Al Ahly’s Mostafa Shobeir.

It was a hard grind for Al Ahly throughout large parts of the game, with Simba dominating possession without creating too many clearcut chances in the second half.

Percy Tau featured 67 minutes before being replaced by Taher Mohamed.

Overall, Simba had 19 shots and Ahly just five, but the one on target was enough for Marcel Koller’s side to secure the victory.

Al Ahly collected the important away win and it will now be an uphil battle for the Tanzanian side in Cairo next week.
