Timm – We Are As Good As Al Ahly

Orlando Pirates midfielder Miguel Timm says the confidence growing within the squad is growing game by game as they continue to produce results.

Timm, 32, has been a peripheral figure in the squad this season due to injuries and the recent emergence of midfield competition but provided a cameo in the 0-0 draw with Al Ahly.

It served as a reminder of his abilities to the sold-out Orlando Stadium where he’s become a fan favourite since his transfer from Marumo Gallants.

“I came on for Cash [in the middle] he did a solid job, it was my duty to finish off what he started with continuation and obviously trying to get a few more attacks to [chase] three points,” Timm said.

“It wasn’t to be, top side, but I think we are equally as good [as Al Ahly], we have shown no fear in any of these games so far and we will continue to move forward in this way.”

Thalente Mbatha and Makhehleni Makhaula have become the first-choice partnership in central midfield, but the returning Timm will likely add further competition in the congested fixture schedule to alleviate the workload of the tenacious midfield duo.

“I work with the guys every day, the technical team, we know in-house our capabilities and what we can achieve, such performances like this aren’t a surprise for us,” he added.

“It’s important to put on a good show for the country and our fans, we’re hope they happy and continue to follow us well.”

Pirates now travel to West Africa to face Stade d’Abidjan in Ivory Coast at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny on Saturday (18h00).
