Red Arrows assistant coach Kalililo Kakonje says they have received massive backing from Kaizer Chiefs‘ rival supporters ahead of the second leg of the CAF Champions League second preliminary round this evening.
Arrows arrived in South Africa on Wednesday after a successful first-leg win on Sunday in Zambia. The three-time Zambian Premier League champions come to the second leg with a 1-0 advantage after a 77th-minute header from captain Alassane Diarra.
During the first leg at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, there were a lot of Red Arrows rivals who supported Chiefs and it has been vice versa here as Chiefs rivals are fully behind Red Arrows.
Kakonje who played in South Africa between 2005 and 2010, mentioned the welcome they received from South African fans who are rivals to Chiefs and they’ve been encouraging them to beat the mighty Amakhosi.
“Even at the hotel we are at, most of them were saying guys please beat Kaizer Chiefs, but it won’t be easy,” Kakonje told the media.
“A lot of supporters are gunning for us; that’s another motivating fact for us. I hope all these people come through to support us and also the Kaizer Chiefs supporters who could be against their team to support us.”
