RS Berkane have been crowned 2024/25 CAF Confederation Cup champions after holding Simba SC to a 1-1 draw in the second-leg final clash at the Amaan Stadium in Tanzania on Sunday afternoon.
The first real chance on target fell to the visitors in the 14th minute as Yassine Labhiri rose high to head towards goal but Simba goalkeeper Moussa Camara made an easy save.
Simba then opened the scoring five minutes later through Joshua Mutale who sneaked in at the far post to tap in and sent the Amaan Stadium into rapture with the 1-0 lead.
Shomari Kapombe should have made it 2-0 in the 22nd minute but his header from close range sailed over the crossbar.
Just five minutes into the second period, Simba were dealt a heavy blow after Yusuph Kagoma was sent for an early shower after picking up his second yellow card of the afternoon.
Steven Mukwala had the ball in the back of the net in the 70th minute but saw his goal scrapped after close VAR consultation.
The game was dead and buried when substitute Soumaila Sidibe pounced on a goal-mouth scramble to poke it home in the 90th minute as Berkane bagged their 3rd title in five years.
