Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando Da Cruz has reacted to his side’s elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup after losing to Red Arrows on penalties.
Chiefs managed to level the tie inside 90 minutes, with Bradley Cross scoring the only goal of the second leg to make it 1-1 on aggregate.
Amakhosi had several chances to put the tie to bed but were too wasteful, something which came back to haunt them after Lebohang Maboe, Reeve Frosler and Ethan Chislett all missed their penalties in the shootout, with Da Cruz lamenting the side’s wastefulness.
“We dominated all the game, we created a lot of chances,” he told SABC2.
“We lost the game on penalties, but we actually lost it before because we created a lot of chances.
“We’re only scored one goal, normally we must win this game 3-0 or 4-0.”
Da Cruz, though, did insist it wasn’t an issue of confidence, saying his side did all they could to end up victorious.
“The team played with confidence, the team played with a lot of personality, with the ball, without the ball,” he added.
“With what we showed today is not an issue in confidence.”
