Sekhukhune Meet CAF Deadline For Women’s Team

Sekhukhune United have secured a partnership with a Women’s team in order to meet the Confederation of African Football (CAF) requirements for CAF inter-club competitions.

CAF enforced a rule that any club that is to participate in inter-club football would need to own a women’s team or have an affiliation towards one as they looked to accelerate the development of the women’s game across the continent.

While Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies have already secured a Champions League crown, the likes of SuperSport United, Orlando Pirates and Sekhukhune all needed to secure a partnership before 30 June, the deadline set to register their participation.

iDiski Times can confirm Babina Noko will be investing in the University of North West Women’s Team based in Vaal as they enter the Confederation Cup for the first time in their history.

Pirates have been linked with a partnership with the University of Johannesburg while SuperSport United were in talks with Tswhane University of Technology, both of whom compete in the Hollywoodbets Super League.

But no official communication on the reported partnerships, required to enter Africa next season, have been confirmed by either club as of yet.
