Vilakazi Positive As Chiefs Travel To Congo

Kaizer Chiefs talent Mfundo Vilakazi is looking forward to returning to club action when they take on AS Simba in the CAF Confederation Cup this weekend.

The 19-year-old midfielder was part of the South Africa national U-20 squad in Chile, who reached the last 16 of the U-20 FIFA World Cup, where he featured in all four games.

Now he’s looking to build on his impressive few weeks of form, starting with helping Chiefs secure their place in the group stages, as they take on the Linafoot side Simba in the second preliminary round.

“I am very happy to be back at the club. I’m back to work hard I want to help the team to win, looking forward to scoring and assisting.

“I think it’s an advantage to us because an away goal for us is [like scoring] two goals when we come back at home.

“So I think if we can score that means we have [an advantage] at home and have [less] pressure. I think we have to score because the away goal [rule] will help us.”

Amakhosi face the Congolese outfit at the Stade TP Mazembe and Lubambushi on Saturday at 15h00 – with the game unlikely to be televised.
