Kaizer Chiefs striker Ashley Du Preez has opened up on his relationship with Deano Van Rooyen after the cousins, who grew up together, are now playing for two Soweto rivals.
Du Preez is one of the players voted into the PSL All Star squad for the Carling Black Label Cup, making back-to-back appearances in the team.

While the striker joined Chiefs from Stellenbosch FC in July 2022, his cousin Van Rooyen completed his own Gauteng move to Orlando Pirates two years later.
Du Preez now described both transfers as “dreams come true, and revealed the cousins still support each other despite playing for the two Soweto rivals.
“Deano is my cousin,” he said during a Carling Black Label Cup presser ahead of Saturday’s exhibition match against Magesi FC.
“We grew up together, stayed together, played football together, so we know each other, we know what we wanted as kids – I’ve always wanted to play for Chiefs, he wanted to play for Pirates – both of our dreams came true.
