After Stellenbosch lifted the Carling Knockout Cup last weekend, iDiski Times selected its Team of the Tournament.
Unsurprisingly, the team is dominated by Stellenbosch stars, with six players making the final XI.
Steve Barker’s team won three CKO games in regulation time, including keeping a clean sheet twice, and it was only in the final that penalties were needed.
Losing finalists Galaxy had three names in the XI. Unlike Stellies, Galaxy had a lot more fighting to do to reach the final, and last Saturday was the third penalty shootout they were involved in.
The competition’s two top individual performers – Sede Dion of semi-finalists AmaZulu and Polokwane City’s Oswin Appollis, who lost in the last eight, were also included. Dion finished as top scorer with four goals, while Appollis provided more assists than anyone else, and also scored one goal.
