iDiski TV analyst Junior Khanye admits that Manqoba Mngqithi’s midfield was stifled by Magesi FC in their shock 2-1 Carling Knockout Cup final defeat.
The former Kaizer Chiefs had predicted that Sundowns would dominate the rookies with a 5-0 scoreline though Clinton Larsen’s charges pulled off a smash-and-grab win having rallied from a goal down.
Tshepo Kakora cancelled out Iqraam Rayners’ 36th-minute strike before Delano Abrahams, who got his revenge after they lost to Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup last season while on the books of University of Pretoria), struck in the 87th minute for the club’s historic win.
“The reason I have to admit, my prediction, I think mine was wrong,” Khanye told iDiski TV.
“Well done to Magesi FC. I have to tell the truth, because really if you to check the profile of the players at Sundowns, I don’t have to justify it but I never saw Magesi [beating Sundowns] overall.
“It proved today that there’s a lot that Manqoba Mngqithi needs to do, we need to be honest. I’m not labelling him, the coach did excellent in other games, we have to tell the truth.
“First of all, I don’t think in this game there was a need for overs. This is a game that didn’t need overs. I know he won against Kaizer Chiefs, but games are very different.”
