Manqoba – This Is The Most Sore Point

Manqoba Mngqithi has rued the defeat in the Carling Knockout final to Magesi, especially after his team’s overall performance in the competition.

Sundowns were strong favourites, and going into the final they had not conceded in their three previous CKO fixtures, while they had scored eleven goals.

Mngqithi, speaking in the post-match press conference, said with an overall return of 12 goals for and 2 goals against, you would expect to come away with the trophy, but they lost out when it counted.

“In football, you must know that sometimes you will win, sometimes you lose,” Mngqithi said, reflecting after the final.

“It is very unfortunate that in a competition where you have scored 12 goals in four matches and only conceded two, you lose that competition.

“Because that is the most sore point where, when I won the MTN8 with Golden Arrows, I think we scored 11 goals and conceded one.

“This time around, we have scored 12, conceded two, but we are out without the cup. And for me, that was a very good return.

“But unfortunately, when it mattered most, that’s when we let it go.”
