Nabi Breaks Silence On Sirino’s Chiefs Influence

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi believes there’s still plenty in the tank to come from influential attacker Gaston Sirino.

Sirino put in a Man-of-the-Match performance scoring the opener and assisting Chiefs’ second goal in their 4-0 hammering of SuperSport United in the last 16 round of the Carling Knockout Cup in Polokwane on Saturday evening.

The 33-year-old has been a mainstay for the Glamour Boys since joining the club on a free transfer following his exit from Mamelodi Sundowns. He has already racked up two goals and three assists in four matches across all competitions for Amakhosi.

Nabi said after the Matsatsantsa humbling that the team is appreciative of the efforts made by Sirino especially when he wasn’t at his best. The coach added that he believes that more is still to come from his player who can also be a big influence on the youngsters in the side.

“It’s true that Sirino has helped us today and we thank him for that,” Nabi told iDiski Times after the match.

“But today, he was a player that was not at his maximum fitness because he’s coming from an injury. He hasn’t trained a lot the last days, but he showed character, he showed that he can make the difference sometimes.

“But as well that’s why we changed him because we were fully aware that he was not at his full capacity.

“And we can promise that if Sirino gets back his full fitness, you will see more from him, and we think that the younger players can learn a lot from him.”
