Pirates & Magesi Starting XIs Announced

Orlando Pirates and Magesi FC have announced their starting lineups for this afternoon’s Carling Knockout Cup round of 16 at Orlando Stadium.

Seven spots are still to be filled in the quarterfinals, Pirates or Magesi will hope to follow Stellenbosch after their qualification on Friday. The Sea Robbers aim to complete a trophy double before the end of the year and their journey starts today.

The don’t have a good relationship with this competition as they haven’t won’t it in the last decade (Carling or Telkom). Their quest to end the bad relationship will begin without key players like Olisah Ndah and Thalente Mbatha who both played a massive role when they won the MTN8.

Magesi will play their first top flight tournament in the club’s history, but their head coach Clinton Larsen won the Telkom before with Bloemfontein Celtic and club captain Elvis Chipezeze also had a taste of it with Baroka FC.

Dikwena Tša Meetse didn’t start the season well after losing their first two league matches but they seem to be finding their feet now as they’ve registered their first win against Lamontville Golden Arrows.

This is the first time these two sides face each other.
