Riveiro On Bucs Starlet – A Player Like Him Is Difficult To Find

Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro has talked up the qualities of young centre-back starlet Mbekezeli Mbokazi, saying a player like him is difficult to find.

Mbokazi was voted into the starting XI of the PSL All Star team to face Magesi FC in Saturday’s Carling Black Label Cup.

Pirates have been successfully promoting youngsters from the DDC to the seniors under Riveiro, with Relebohile Mofokeng and Mohau Nkota making waves in the senior side.

Mbokazi was one of the latest starlets to be promoted to the senior side and had been tipped to become a success at the Buccaneers, with Riveiro now also praising his development and qualities.

“An interesting prospect. He’s a difficult player to find. Left-footed centre-backs, there are not many,” said the Spaniard, who will take charge of the PSL All Stars.

“Strong, competitive, good character, willing to learn, a coachable player so far.

“Like for everybody else on Saturday an opportunity to confirm what I’m saying or to prove me wrong maybe, let’s see.

“I don’t really like to talk so much about individuals, as you know. But I’m doing an exception again.

“He will show the player that he is on Saturday for sure.”

Mbokazi was part of the Amajita squad that won the U20 COSAFA Cup and will play at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations next year.
