Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro, who will coach the Carling All Star XI against Stellenbosch on Saturday, has shared his views on the team he will be coaching.
The All Stars team was picked after fans voted in players from DStv Premiership clubs, as well as including young players from the DStv Diski Challenge.
Riveiro will be coaching the team after he was voted in as coach, and he gave the media his assessment of the team on Friday.
“The team is what it is,” Riveiro told the media on Friday.
“It is a complete team, balanced with two players in each position, with talent.
“Especially with the motivation especially for the young guys, who have the opportunity to play with a good audience against the current champion.
“And playing with experienced players around, so it’s a good opportunity for all of us to enjoy tomorrow, more than thinking so much in what’s going to be the result.”
Riveiro said it was an honour to be named as a coach, and thanked the fans for showing him support despite his relative short time in South Africa.
“It’s an honour, that’s why I’m here,” he added.
“I couldn’t take it in a different way. It is our mandate, it is our responsibility. And I’m really respectful with them.
“That’s why I’m here I’m trying to do my best and I’m really glad that after a short time here in South Africa…
“I mean, I said yesterday I’m representing a big club, a big institution with a lot of fans. I’m sure that many of them were behind this (voting), even though there are other football fans in South Africa. so I’m glad that they can give me that support.”
