After already missing out on silverware twice this campaign, Kaizer Chiefs defender Paseka Mako is determined for them to make up for it by winning the Carling Knockout Cup.
Amakhosi were eliminated by Golden Arrows in the first round of the MTN8 before being dumped out of continental football by Zambian outfit Red Arrows who advanced via penalties to reach the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
In the Carling Last 16 Round, Chiefs saw off TS Galaxy 3-0 to book a quarterfinal clash against Siwelele FC this weekend.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Mako is hoping for a performance that could take them past a ‘difficult opponent’ in Siwelele.
“We aim to win this trophy, but we’re not getting ahead of ourselves, and all that is on our minds is to get through this quarterfinal,” he said.
“They are difficult opponents, and we are aware of some of their strengths, but our primary focus is always on our own strategy of how to impose ourselves on them and win the match.
“We need to concentrate the whole time on executing what the coaches have told us.”
The two teams have already met once in the Betway Premiership this season with Chiefs 3-2 triumphant.
The Carling Knockout Cup quarterfinal tie will be staged at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
Kick off is at 18:00 on Sunday, 8 November.
