What Khune Told Me – Chipezeze

Magesi FC captain Elvis Chipezeze reveals that words of encouragement from Kaizer Chiefs legend Itumeleng Khune to lift up his players and see the game through played a key role in them reaching the Carling Knockout Cup final.

Dikwena Tsa Meetsi created history in their topflight debut season, eliminating cup kings Orlando Pirates, TS Galaxy and Richards Bay on their way to the final. They will now meet Mamelodi Sundowns as they aim for their first piece of silverware this coming weekend.

Chipezeze spoke to iDiski Times writer Lethabo Kganyago in edition 181 of the newspaper where he revealed the players who have been in touch with him, adding that ‘Itu’ encouraged him to continue carrying his young team.

“They’ve been in touch with me, [Ranga] Chivaviro has been in touch, Mr [Thabiso] Semenya, Letladi [Madubanya], the legends of the game have been in touch, most recently [Itumeleng] Khune,” Chipezeze told iDiski Times.

“He talked to me before the Richards Bay game. He wished me luck – ‘All the best, my boy, you have been here before, try to lift the boys and see this thing through’ you know this kind of encouragement.

“It’s a blessing on its own to be receiving this kind of support from former players, and also players that are playing like you’ve got this so push and push and see this thing through.”
