Badela Coy On Title Race

Mamelodi Sundowns DStv Diski Challenge coach Sinethemba Badela insists that his job is not about winning the league title but to improve players.

Badela has done well since he arrived at Sundowns at the beginning of the season, as the former All Stars head coach is leading Masandawana in a fierce title race in the DDC.

Sundowns dropped to second place this past weekend after losing to Sekhukhune United by 1-0, and Stellenbosch took advantage of that by beating Orlando Pirates by 2-1.

Despite being second on the log with 56 points, just one behind leaders Stellenbosch FC, Badela insists that this level of football is all about improving players and make sure that they are ready for the next stage of their career.

“As a technical team we just have to make sure that the boys try to improve,” Badela told SuperSport TV.

“I do not think the boys are under any pressure, the only pressure they have is from me to make sure they train well and do their best in the matches, that is the pressure.”

“We never, ever mentioned that we want to win the league and things like that. We always said we want to improve our performances and the players, and that’s all we can do.”

Sundowns are back in action on Sunday when they will host fourth-placed Kaizer Chiefs in another massive clash in the reserves league.
