Kaizer Chiefs were in sheer dominance as they hammered Polokwane City 5-1 in Sunday morning’s DStv Diski Challenge fixture.
The win saw Amakhosi move four points behind third-placed Siwelele and could still be on course to finish behind Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns with three matches to play.
In Saturday’s fixtures, Orlando Pirates completed a dramatic comeback to beat AmaZulu FC 2-1 while Mamelodi Sundowns beat Chippa United in a five goal thriller, winning 3-2.
Pirates scored two late goals yesterday defeating AmaZulu FC. Usuthu scored deep in the second half and thought they had secured maximum points before Pirates midfielder Thuso Sesipi and Joy Manama scored two goals in stoppage time and secured the much-needed victory.
The Buccaneers remain six points clear at the top after Sundowns secured a late winner against the Chilli Boys. Downs led the game by 2-0 in the first-half through Bennet Mokoena, for his 21st goal of the season, and Ntokozo Siquba. Chippa managed to score the two goals which made score 2-2 in the second half. Kutlwano Letlhaku then scored very late to complete the win for Sundowns keeping their title hopes alive.
Chiefs, who’s just playing for their dignity as they seemingly out of the title race hammered Rise and Shine on Sunday morning.
Naledi Hlongwane scored twice and Steven Mendes in the first half to give Chiefs 3-0 lead at the break. Amakhosi came out guns blazing in the second and scored two more to make it 5-0. Rise and Shine pulled one back before the final whistle.
