Pirates Hammer Downs To Go Top

Orlando Pirates went to the top of the DStv Diski Challenge table after hammering Mamelodi Sundowns 4-1, while Stellenbosch moved into second place.

After almost two months without DDC football, the return didn’t disappoint as the first day produced seven goals. Kaizer Chiefs shared the spoils with Chippa United at Tsakane Stadium in a 2-2 draw, with Neo Bohloko scored a brace for Amakhosi.

Stellenbosch collected three points at the expense of defending champions SuperSport United, as Mervin Boji scored the winner for the Cape Winelands side.

The morning of Sunday started in the mother city, where Cape Town Spurs locked horns with Richards Bay. The Natal Richboyz secured three points winning by 2-1, Thandokuhle Nguzu scored the winner deep in the second half. Meanwhile, Cape Town City shared the spoils with Lamontville Golden Arrows (1-1).

AmaZulu’s struggles continues as they suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of their neighbors Royal AM. Goals from Samnkele Sihlali and Oageng Phiri secured 2-1 victory for Sekhukhune United and kept their title hopes alive.

Polokwane City’s winless run extended to 12 matches after suffering a thumping 5-0 defeat at the hands of TS Galaxy.

Round 13 finished with a mouthwatering clash between Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates. The Sea Robbers came from a goal down to hammer Downs by 4-1. Mohau Nkota was the like a knife through the butter, scoring a brace.
